web Service Tagsets
This project taps 1 of 3
WSDP-related ideas for Q3-Q4 projects. Its goal
is to train people in web services, and in this new MJP
site, by creating new themed tagsets that combine
them.
The web services may be written by other people, groups, or
even by VTS visitors or sponsors. They may be written in
any language, and may be
simple, or highly complex. They can be hosted anywhere.
UDDI can help you locate some.
The VTS-style tags which call these services are
pretty simple. Once you get the APIs in WSDP, even a
Java novice should be able to create them, in this way:
- Produce a new JSP which implements a new HTML tag
- Use SOAP and tag arguments to call any web service
- Massage its output for inclusion in a calling page
- Embed the tag on a "demo" page citing usage, limits
- E-mail it to Dan
for posting, or use VTS-supplier
file-upload tools.
By repeating this process, members of this project can
build up unique tagsets of interest, and also build up
useful, cutting edge WSDP skills.
