Characteristics of the "Entity with Home Page" Topic Types
* DC, Dec 18 - fixed broken link in comments, now at bottom of page,
This is not yet a PSI-tree, but it is a sketch for one that would
pretty well define types 1.2.1-3., and give you a formal model of the
homepage concept good enough to support LTM production for January
demo. Feedback on this plan is requested ASAP.
- Defined Subtypes
- PSI = SubjectIndicator (give explanation & constraints below in 2 & 3)
- Their English type names (each now seems well established)
- Company = text: several focus types; tagged, attributed,
- Country = a national political unit
- main initial role: it issues bonds like a Company
- may also host Company (but harder to model)
- Industry = a type of activity; also a group of Company
- Required of all Instances, no matter what the sub-type
- a named sub-type via instance-of (see 1.2)
- homepage URI = an Occurrence at your site
- Localized names = for multilingual display?
- Required for some Instances, as indicated by 2.1
- semi-static hierarchies of PSIs for instances of 1.2.1-3
- Region = a PSI-tree for Company, Country locations
- Sector = a PSI-tree for Company, Industry activity
- Market = node in a (small) tradingForum PSI-tree
- Currency = PSID paired with Market for a Company
- Ticker names, etc.in Occurrence or Name iff a Company/Country
- Bondscore data, links, etc - added for each appropriate type
- Expected for some Instances, as indicated below
- Tagging - set if and when referencer gets "tagged"
- referencer = N - items of tagged content
- referenced = the entity itself, of a type 1.2.1-3
- Implied Tags - dynamic rules for "autotagging"
- extends 4.1.2 to related Regions per 3.1
- extends 4.1.2 to related Sectors per 3.1
- extends 4.1.2 to related Markets per 3.1
- Issue: how can we formalize "autotagging" rules??
- they get driven by basic type definitions
- do not need manual tagging to work
- rules link instances to other entity instances
- Answer is now on latest ontology summary
- see "focus" (defaults per type of DatedResource)
- also association types 1-5 and hierarchy thread
* MT, phone feedback of Dec 16 on stuff above, now added
1.2.2 - Country as issuer of bonds more relevant than Country as host for Company operations (fixed)
3.1 - Market & Currency as trading forum seem not far off - but most bonds sold direct by Company or Country
3.3 - Bondscore data and URLs will be significant
4.3 - added an open "autotagging" issue after discussion
* DC, Dec 16 - For earlier discussion, see typesofentitycore.htm
A home page for each Company seems a clear objective this project must support.
Countries and Industries will probably need homepages as well, that can be found without using a search. Home
pages of all types seem "navigation" aids (versus "content"). They merely
display the characteristics cited below, with links showing their associations to appropriate DatedResources.
It is unclear if Regions and Sectors need homepages, or even if
they need to be topics. They
do need identity and instances, but those can just come for now from
PSIDs used as simple attributes of other types. If and when the
goals for modeling them become better articulated, after the PSI-trees
for their instances and 1.2.2-3 have been fully built, it will not be
hard to reify them all semi-automatically
