INGLISH R&D Outline
Phase 0 = $11k x 3 needed for 3 MM setup of two core modules in /exhibit/ per /psi/lexikon)
- Overt goals = Java web app for easy 3-part ontology creation via converter scripts (no TM)
- csdemo (generalized into ???) = converts PSI-tree files into LTM &/with constraints
- scripts = hand-typed, hidden JSCHEME scripts which can do the actual conversions
- they will intially focus on "speech acts" which are artificial (*E*), for Phase 0
- later we will expand them to take input from dialog as well as a PSI-lexikon file
- must combine all above under normal JSP for PSI-page generation, already in use
- Funding = Big users of Ontologies must be sold on the concept - get C4ISR partner?
Phase 1 = $13k x 7 to expand 0 by 12/04 to demo INGLISH/MODELER as a web app
- Overt goals = inglish/modeler = an addition combining 5 new subsystems
- lexicons = loading LTM from Phase 0 so it can initialize Context
- context = TM4J, added/initialized under a general Java-based API
- constraints = scripting topics to handle them as templates, do validation
- dialog = use STRIPPER to map WORDS expressions to JSCHEME scripts
- discourse = manages the LRU mechanisms to resolve anaphora
- Funding = SBIR phase one, as already proposed to Navy and USAF
- Alternative = for (subscription?) sales: merge Phase 0 and VTS; rebrand as Agency
Phase 1X = $15k x 4 to expand 1 by 04/05 to integrate WORDS into GRAMMAR in our parser
- Overt goals = inglish/grammar = adds in the PARSER, under a web-based UI
- dialog - improve it to handle posted paragraph files and full SCANNER
- transcriber - make it use the new dialog above, plus the old PARSER
- parser - figure a way to make it emit WORDS for the phase 1 logic
- Funding = interium coding before award of Phase 2 work, plus last can be the
Phase 2 = $30k x 18 to expand 1X by 12/06 to build a toolkit for handling voice I/O
- Overt goals = inglish/scanner = uses PARSER + MODELER to cull ambiguity
- Funding = the SBIR agency who sponsored phase 1 & 1X
- Alternative = for (subscription?) sales: merge !X and VTS logic; rebrand as Agency
